Start from the card and purchase details
First read the full product name on the front and back of the card, the email or the receipt, then find the matching page in the brand pages. The card brand is the product it is actually issued and usable as, which is not necessarily the store that sold it; do not decide by card colours or where you bought it.
- Note the full product name, the country or region of purchase, the displayed currency and the fields the card asks for.
- For physical cards, start with the packaging and the back of the card; for e-gift cards, start with the original delivery email and order details.
- Only check cards you own or are clearly allowed to check, and never send full card numbers, PINs or verification codes on a website, ticket or chat.
Tell store gift cards from network prepaid cards
A store’s own gift card can usually only be used in that brand’s stores or website. Prepaid cards carrying Visa, Mastercard or another payment network logo are a different kind of product; even if you bought one at Walmart, Target or another store, that does not make it that store’s gift card.
For example, only a card that clearly says “Target GiftCard” should be checked against the Target GiftCard scope; a Visa or Mastercard card bought from a Target rack is still handled as the product printed on it. The Vanilla page covers the Visa prepaid gift cards Vanilla clearly labels. If no brand page matches your product, stop; do not pick a similar name just to get into a workflow.
Confirm the country, region and currency
The region should be based on purchase details, card terms and the brand’s official pages. A dollar sign alone does not prove a card is from the US, and the same brand may use different sites, accounts or balance paths in different countries.
For Apple, continue to the US or UK page and check the purchase country, store region and page status; other regions are listed in the region directory. A region being listed does not mean real balance checks have been verified there; only regions with independent evidence get a workflow page.
Use the input fields as a secondary check
Card numbers, PINs, access codes, expiry dates and security codes can help confirm the product, but cannot replace the card and its terms. Do not guess the brand from the card number length, and do not assume two brands are compatible because they ask for the same number of fields.
- The fields a page asks for must match the fields the card actually provides.
- Do not truncate, pad or rewrite card numbers, and do not use another field in place of a PIN or access code.
- If the fields do not match, go back to the brand pages and re-check; do not keep trying different brand entries.
Read support status and verification progress separately
“Integrated in development build” means the code and workflow records exist; it does not mean a real balance has been obtained or that the feature is in a released client. “Pending live-card verification” means real card business results are still missing. Target is connected for a single-card check in GiftVeri, the same as the other US brands. The full difference is explained in the support status guide.
Brand pages and official resources help you choose the right path; they cannot prove a card is genuine, activated or funded. To check Target, open the Target US page and run the 15-digit card number and access code in GiftVeri.
Choose the next step from what you found
- Apple cards: open the US or UK page; if your region has no page, keep it as unconfirmed.
- US brands in the list: open that brand’s page and check its scope, preparation and current verification progress.
- Target: open the Target page and check the 15-digit card number and access code in GiftVeri, the same as the other US brands.
- Brand, card type or region still unclear: stop and go back to the original purchase details or the brand’s official pages.
After choosing a page, complete a single-card check first; do not turn unconfirmed cards straight into a batch. If a check fails or the status is unknown and no amount is returned, keep the original status as described in the results guide, and do not read it as zero balance, invalid or inactive; the PRO pre-activation check marks a card as not activated or not enabled only when that brand official pre-query returns an empty card status, and then it does not send the balance query.
Stop immediately in these cases
- The card brand, card type or region does not match the selected page.
- A page asks you to change, guess or pad card fields.
- The account, proxy or brand session status is unclear.
- A check was submitted without a clear business result, and you cannot tell whether it would be sent twice.
- The region you need has no check entry yet, or the page does not cover that region.
