The Marco's gift cards did not come from a resale platform. The same household ran into two in a row, the stores were not even in the same state, and the site showed the date of a full-balance spend. What they asked for was the company phone, not another balance check.

A $500 Food Lion gift card, not a new card at first use. Two grocery spends were the holder's, and nobody could say who made the one in the middle. Neither CashStar nor the store manager would say where that transaction was.
Unable to pay in the line
A senior stood at checkout with several gift cards, and one after another was empty. The difficulty is there in the checkout line. Record that these gift cards would not pay, before talking about the status message.
A company Visa gift card: the history never shows a deposit
A company Visa prepaid card. The activation had already been done. The history did not fall from some number to zero. An amount never appeared. The question goes back to whether the department that issued the reward loaded this card. An empty pre-query only means there is no data now. It does not show who failed to load it.
A Verizon gift card from the brand store, and the menu has no activate option
A gift card bought on Verizon's own site showed inactive at payment. The balance phone menu had a check and no activate option. The balance appeared in the account weeks later. This page does not write how to ask an investigations desk to redo it.
